Unfortunately, Mark Halliwell is unable to continue in his role as the Carers rep on the Renfrewshire Integrated Joint Board (IJB). We would like to thank Mark for his commitment to the role. Mark has been a great advocate for Carers at these meetings.
Taking over from Mark as the previous deputy we are delighted to introduce Willie Paton as the new Carers Representative on the IJB. IJBs are the main decision-making body for the @Renfrewshire Health & Social Care Partnership (RHSCP). The Carers rep is a non-voting member of the IJB but is involved in planning and decision making, and Willie is ready to represent the views of Carers at IJB meetings.
Here’s a little info from Willie on taking on the role:
“I am currently an unpaid Carer looking after my wife who suffered from 3 strokes of which the latest was 7 years ago. I also assisted in the care of my Father in Law for nearly 15 years who suffered from dementia and unfortunately passed away in 2020. I am disabled myself.
My main calling in life some 40 years ago has been within the Trade Union Movement representing vulnerable members in various industries all across the UK, and I am still active today in that environment.”
– Willie Paton
