Advocates work alongside Carers &#8211; never speaking for them unless asked &#8211; to help them express their views, make informed decisions, and navigate systems that can be complex or overwhelming to some.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><br \/><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\">Our service provides 1:1 advocacy to Carers who are experiencing issues as a direct result of their caring role.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\"><strong>An advocate can help Carers to:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\">Understand their rights and entitlements.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\">Provide relevant information and explore choices.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\">Communicate effectively with health, social care, and other services.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\">Challenge decisions they believe are unfair.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\">Feel more confident in speaking up about their own physical and mental wellbeing.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\"><strong>Advocacy may be of help when Carers are experiencing difficulties with the following:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\">Social work, health and other support services<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\">Hospital discharge planning<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\">Transition from home into long-term care<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\">Attendance at meetings\/reviews<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2f2d76;\">Housing<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Advocacy The aim of the Carers Advocacy Service is to ensure Carers\u2019 voices are heard, their rights are protected, and their needs are understood.
